Kim

Kimberly Michelle is a 30-something mother/wife/girl that yearns for making everything extraordinary. If she were a super-person, she'd want to be a combination of Kate Spade, John Wooden, Martha Stewart, Walt Disney and Wolfgang Puck. She'd have her own theme park with a wood-burning oven where everyone played basketball AND enjoyed craft time and would look like a modern day Jackie O every day of the week. On this blog, she shares the exploits of her immediate family: Mr. M (my amazing husband), Miss L (also known as Baby M through year 1), and Memphis (our boston terrier) and Lincoln (the Bernese Mountain Dog). She bleeds blue and gold for her UCLA Bruins, and really only celebrate 3 seasons: football, basketball and “no football/basketball.

banana cream pudding magic

banana cream pudding magic

I have some serious banana cream pie lovers (& critics) in my life: Mr. M and my Dad. So when I stumbled on the recipe for Magnolia Bakery’s Famous Banana Pudding, I earmarked it for a day when they both could enjoy it. It’s definitely not a pie, but more of a banana cream trifle,...

Raley’s Chefs’ Menu for Easy & Delicious Dinners

As weeknight working-parents, we don’t have time for 30+ minute recipes in our kitchen Monday-Friday. Oh, and please don’t get me started on those delivery-via-FedEx “meal in a box” subscriptions. While they might be fun for a weekend meal, it’s not fun to learn how to cook a new recipe every single night. I...

it’s finally time to go inside out

To say that our family has been waiting forever for INSIDE OUT to come out would be an understatement. We got our first preview of Inside Out at the D23 Expo in 2013 and we were all in stitches laughing at the dialogue/storyboard they shared with us. Since then, we’ve been crossing our fingers...

Roasted Strawberry Ice Cream

My two favorite things to grow in my backyard as a kid were strawberries and sunflowers. I loved the sight of those gigantic yellow flowers and the added bonus of sun-dried treats inside! And there was nothing quite as joyful on a hot summer day than taking a dip in the pool and grabbing...

Magisto is still my favorite video app

Three years ago, I shared my love for a little video editing app named Magisto. I sung its praises for creating wonderful little edited music videos from all of my iPhone snippets with little to no work on my part. Just select your video clips, pick some music, give it a title, and wait...

More than just a business card (#disneysmmc on the road Portland)

Have you ever stalked a trade show/convention booth just for the swag they give out? I have. More than once. OK, I do it at every chance I get. And my family does too. That’s why we have a surplus of metal Tangled bookmarks (thank you #D23Expo 2013) & tote bags in our house....

#KidArt: drawing books

During a busy weekend of activities here and there, I stumbled upon a wonderful new drawing book that I knew Miss L would just adore: Step-By-Step Drawing Book (Activity Books for Little Children). When I showed her the pages and asked, “Do you think you’d like to learn how to draw these things?” she enthusiastically...

#DisneylandDay in Sacramento

On Monday, I woke up to some pretty happy news. Literally. There, on the local morning news, was a live shot of the giant Mickey Mouse hot air balloon sitting in front of the state capitol building! It turned out that the California legislature was honoring Disneyland in session that day and declaring June 1, 2015 as “Disneyland Day” in California...

fairy houses in the garden

I didn’t know it when we bought our first fairy houses, but they seem to have an uncanny ability to multiply. And while we had found a few spots in the backyard to hang Miss L’s first houses, we were quickly running out of room for the production line that started emerging from the...

grilled white peach salad with basil & pine nuts

You know that summer is just around the corner when you catch your first glimpse of stone fruit at the market. Then, week by week, the peaches and nectarines become abundant until you find yourself eating a few varieties every day. It’s so hard not to stockpile them all! In fact Miss L got...
