Kim

Kimberly Michelle is a 30-something mother/wife/girl that yearns for making everything extraordinary. If she were a super-person, she'd want to be a combination of Kate Spade, John Wooden, Martha Stewart, Walt Disney and Wolfgang Puck. She'd have her own theme park with a wood-burning oven where everyone played basketball AND enjoyed craft time and would look like a modern day Jackie O every day of the week. On this blog, she shares the exploits of her immediate family: Mr. M (my amazing husband), Miss L (also known as Baby M through year 1), and Memphis (our boston terrier) and Lincoln (the Bernese Mountain Dog). She bleeds blue and gold for her UCLA Bruins, and really only celebrate 3 seasons: football, basketball and “no football/basketball.

getting crafty for kids: taking a trip

Recently my BFF was getting ready for a trip to NYC and asked for advice on what to take on the plane to entertain her 18-month old son. I threw some ideas out (stickers! food! movies!) and crossed my fingers for her! But ever since, my eye has been gravitating towards things to make...

choosing a 529 college savings plan … 4 years later

Back when Miss L was six months old, we started her college savings fund. I posted and shared about the options available at that time as well as how we settled upon a 529 Plan. Now while I love sharing about things when they’re bright and shiny and new, I also realize how helpful...

that time when Brittney Lee taught me how to cut paper

Back in January, Mr. M and I were in San Francisco for the weekend and decided to make a visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum, as we hadn’t seen the exhibits in four years. On the drive down to the city, I happened upon an event listing for upcoming classes at WDFM, and...

adventures in mini golfing

An ordinary Saturday afternoon was transformed into a race through the mini golf course with the latest pre-LPGA player this week. And by pre-LPGA player, I mean that we’ve got a long way to go on the putting greens. We had taken Miss L mini-golfing last summer, but it didn’t work out so well....

#DisneySide Giveaway

Since the soggy and windy day washed away a lot of elements to our celebration, it also didn’t allow everyone to fully share their #DisneySide (or in our case… their #RunDisneySide) which I was pretty sad about. So I’ve decided to extend the magic here instead and give away some lovely prizes as well!...

how to throw a successful birthday party for 4 year old’s in the rain

You might have heard that California is in the middle of its worst drought in history. And perhaps that while most of the country has been dealing with epic snowstorms and a winter that Elsa “the snow queen” just doesn’t want to end, we’ve been getting sunburned and eaten by mosquitos. It’s not right…...

tried and true: soy marinated tuna (aka. seared ahi)

A few weeks back, I posted this image of our seared ahi dinner on Instagram. It’s one of the easiest appetizers (or full meals if you make larger servings) that we fall back on all the time in our house. Tuna, avocado & sushi rice, all completed and in your tummy 30 minutes after...

what’s old is new again…

Last night, I stumbled upon these at Target. " “Gosh they look familiar. Do I have some at home? Did I just buy them?” Looked in my stationery stash. None there. Then my eye caught something on my craft room shelf. Hmmm….. Oh yeah… I just made a few of them (with different flourishes...
