Kim

Kimberly Michelle is a 30-something mother/wife/girl that yearns for making everything extraordinary. If she were a super-person, she'd want to be a combination of Kate Spade, John Wooden, Martha Stewart, Walt Disney and Wolfgang Puck. She'd have her own theme park with a wood-burning oven where everyone played basketball AND enjoyed craft time and would look like a modern day Jackie O every day of the week. On this blog, she shares the exploits of her immediate family: Mr. M (my amazing husband), Miss L (also known as Baby M through year 1), and Memphis (our boston terrier) and Lincoln (the Bernese Mountain Dog). She bleeds blue and gold for her UCLA Bruins, and really only celebrate 3 seasons: football, basketball and “no football/basketball.

2-in-1 holiday shopping

We’re in the middle of the holiday shopping season, which means chaos and confusion for most of us. Well, maybe it’s just me. Because no matter how much shopping I get done before December 1st, I always manage to procrastinate about something crucially important. But I’ve vowed to do something about it this year…...

2014 holiday gift guide for the artistic kid

It’s no secret that ART is a big thing in our household, so I thought I’d share some of the best gifts I’ve seen for artistic kids in the past year in museum stores, art supply stores, and things that are well loved in our house! Spirograph Design Kit: When the Easter Bunny gifted...

2014 holiday gift guide: Kim’s Favorite Things

This week I’m going to sharing a few gift guides for the holidays, so I thought I’d start out with an easy one featuring some of my favorite gifts to receive! 1) Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates. We’re so lucky to have an amazing local chocolatier here in town, and luckily she ships her loveliness across...

the easiest pre Thanksgiving meal to prepare!

This past Sunday, we had an early “Thanksgiving” celebration with friends thanks to our friends at Raley’s. We got to sample their Holiday Dinner selections a bit before the actual holidays, and let me just share that they were fabulous! A few years back, we discovered the brilliance of the “prepared” holiday meal… and...

another mommy war, but this time I’ll jump in…

In my non-online world, I’m into public policy. In other words, that section of the political world that actually revolves around doing the right stuff instead of just arguing about who the good people are and why they should rule the world. It also means that I turned away from the political world of...

adios laptop, hello #intel2in1

I have a laptop computer. It’s big, it’s heavy, and it’s bulky. It was a gift back in my grad school days from the generous Mr. M and it still works 8 years later, but that’s probably because it’s only used when absolutely needed. You see, I still need it when I travel for...

our hero in a half shell

This summer, Miss L got to go see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the theatres, and soon after the obsession began. Little figurines showed up around the house. Then coloring books. And soon after, there were endless drawings of her hero, Leonardo, all over the house. So when it came time to decide what...

the “I’m so worn out, but if I’m going to cook it is going to be worth it” meal

Life in the M household has been a bit stressful and crazy lately. Luckily, I can report that all of it is of the “first world problems” variety, but it also has all happened to pile on momentously as the days go on. In other words, things like sleep and laundry and memory are...

dots, stripes, wave and duck footprints

A few days after I ordered my new iPhone 6 for delivery, I commissioned Miss L to create a case for my new phone. She had done such a great job with the last case (and got so much pride from it as well) that I knew she’d love to contribute to a new one....
