Widgets!
If you’ve visited Sac Paws and/or Sac Moms Club lately you may have noticed a new feature: Sacramento Connect widgets. The widgets show the latest posts from our partners by category. We will be adding many more Sacramento Connect widgets on Sacbee.com—on the homepage, in sports, gardening, food & wine, etc.—during the next month, so stay tuned.

Saturday Edition
We have also launched a new Sacramento Connect feature in the Saturday print edition of The Bee. Check out the back of the A section this  weekend for a column featuring photos, posts from the network, and announcements about our newest partners.

SOME OF OUR NEWEST PARTNERS

A Blog from the Dog House, written by animal-lover and law student Amy Rae Gowan, features posts about animal welfare, animal law, healthy pet adoptions, giving back, and plenty of cute pet photos and videos. A recent post is about Stranger Cat, a stray who decided to invite himself into her home via the dog door.

The Citizen Rosebud is a personal style and fashion blog home-grown in Sacramento by RQ Hettrick, aka Bella Q. “Bloom madly” is the motto and the blog emphasizes personal expression over the latest trends, and is heavy on eclectic vintage and thrift-store finds. Recent posts include how to dress like a sailor (think: dark peacoat), and some recommended reads about feminist fashion.

HealthyCal.org reports on health care, public health and community health issues, covering public policy and community conditions and developments that affect the health of Californians. Editor Daniel Weintraub is a veteran journalist who has covered policy and politics for the Los Angeles Times, the Orange County Register, the Sacramento Bee and the New York Times. A recent post looks at how Governor Brown’s budget may trim California’s welfare-to-work program by 50%.

George Rebane joins with Rebane’s Ruminations, “Observations and interpretations of events from the last great century of Man.” George is a retired systems scientist and engineer, an entrepreneur, naturalized citizen (he was born in Estonia), and proud grandfather. A recent post does the math on the total tax burden for U.S. citizens.

Bamboo Geek, written by Sean Bigley, is about bamboo, gardening and other related topics. Sean owns a small bamboo nursery in Rocklin. A recent post looks at an intriguing variety of bamboo found in Folsom: Daikokuchiku or “Folsom Black.”
